Starting running as junior some time in 1989 inspired by my Dad running London marathon that year. We head on Tuesday evening to Pleshey to run the two and a quarter miles loop (basically a lap of Pleshey Friday night 5) with leather bottle pub team. My 1st official race was baddow 2 mile fun run that year (was beaten by my older sister Sophie who still reminds of that) . I would do a number of junior races leading towards my first 10k at Hatfield Broad Oak in 1993 ( I think I probably under age as was 10 at the time) around this time I would start junior athletics at Braintree. competed in athletics and cross country for moulsham high school. Dad then joined Witham running club around 1995/96 where i would join the junior cross country team with my cousin Michael (we would mainly be the junior team) Michael would challenge near front I would be a little further back. Afterwards We would normally go find the water feature on the course and heckle team mates in senior team and sometimes do the junior race then run with seniors afterwards probably won’t get away with now! I ran my 1st half marathon in 2000 at the little clacton all-train race, using it as training for for the Hastings half marathon, the leather bottle would always put a team together to try win 1st pub team. I would sporadically race cross country for Witham running club throughout the naughties. In 2005 and 2006 I had two away trips to do the Benidorm half marathon with the running club. (was more focused on the night life than running) my last cross country race with Witham RC was in 2010 at harwich where finish near the back and well beaten beaten by Dad. Sadly this would be the list time we would race. I think unconsciously running had always been a excuse to spend more time with Dad. Unfortunately dad would be diagnosed with cancer the following year and passed away in 2012. Witham running club would name that year’s Boxing Day 5 in honour of his name. The family would run and raise money for Farleigh hospice. After dad had passed I found it difficult to motivate myself as my main source had gone. But I owe a lot to my brother David for getting me back running and getting me into trail running. I would find this game changing (in truth I found track and road running monotonous. With Trail running it was going on mini adventure with my bro) both me David would both use this to train for Hastings half marathon in 2018 where we would raise money for farleigh hospice but this time it would be in honour of our dear auntie Jasmine. I would would joint Mid Essex Casuals this year. the club mainly is focused on all thing off road
